Charity Work

An important aspect of BUGS work is to fundraise for a charity each year.

This is written into the Constitution of the Club.

The charity is decided at the Club’s AGM and the fundraising continues for the whole of the financial year.

2016-2017

This year, we are fund-raising for three charities:

Alzheimers Society, Cerebral Palsy Midlands and Macmillan Cancer (West Midlands)

We raise funds from our weekly in-house raffle and from donations and fees received from our gigs and concerts.

In October 2016, we organised a Charity Concert, at Townsend Social Club, in aid of Cerebral Palsy Midlands and we were joined by Soloist Sarah Jackson and Brandhall Community Choir. The funds from this event, together with a donation from Wednesbury Rotary Club, enabled us to present a cheque for £1200 to Cerebral Palsy Midlands.

In November 2016, we played at Tesco Extra at Cradley Heath and were able to donate over £646 to Children in Need.

2015 - 2016

Our chosen charity for 2015 - 2016 was the Alzheimers Society (within the Black Country.)

We also performed at several Alzheimers Society events throughout the year, including at the Dementia Cafe at the Salvation Army in Cradley Heath.

2014 - 2015

Our charity for the year 2014 – 2015 was Sunfield Children’s Home in Clent, where a Music Therapy Room is being constructed.

As well as raising funds for this, we donated ukuleles and performed at Sunfield’s Christmas Open Day in December.
